3/17/14 – 3/21/14

Monday
  • Reading 8 (Even): Students will review for a test on “Anne Frank.” We will complete a review sheet together as a class and students will use this to study. They will have the rest of the class time to work on finishing their study guide packet, if needed. Test will be on Friday.

  •  Reading 7: Students will discuss the PSSA practice lesson, “My Olympic Tabby Cat.” Students will also discuss the sample open-ended responses together. Students will then work on the next lesson (Cell Phones in Schools).

  • Practical Literature 12: Students will continue reading “Beowulf” together as a class. Students will also complete study guide questions as we read.

Tuesday
  • Reading 8 (Odd): Students will review for a test on “Anne Frank.” We will complete a review sheet together as a class and students will use this to study. They will have the rest of the class time to work on finishing their study guide packet, if needed. Test will be on Thursday.
  • Reading 7: As a class, we will discuss the “Cell Phones in Schools” practice PSSA lesson. We will review the questions and open-ended item. Students will score the open-ended items and we will discuss their reasoning for each score they assigned. Students will then complete a second PSSA practice lesson (“Shoes Overboard”).
  •  Practical Literature 12: Students will read “Beowulf” while using talking to text method in order to take notes while reading. They will complete the study guide questions as well.

Wednesday
  • Reading 8 (Even): Students will complete a practice PSSA lesson packet by reading a passage and then answering multiple choice questions about the passage. They will then read sample responses to the open-ended question and will agree or disagree with the scores and write their reasoning on the provided lines within the packet. When finished, they should work on their “Anne Frank” study guides or study for the test.
  • Reading 7: Students will complete a PSSA practice Reading lesson on Making Inferences, Drawing Conclusions, and Making Generalizations.
  • Practical Literature 12: Students will read “Beowulf” while using talking to text method in order to take notes while reading. They will complete the study guide questions as well.



Thursday


  • Reading 8 (Odd): Students will take a test on “Anne Frank.” When finished, students will turn in their study guide packet along with their test. They will then work on completing a PSSA practice lesson.


  • Reading 7: Students will discuss the PSSA practice lesson from yesterday. We will review student responses together and examine the open-ended item together on the board.

  • Practical Literature 12: Students will review for a test on Beowulf. The test will be tomorrow. We will discuss key elements throughout the poem and make sure that all parts of the study guide are completed.

Friday

  • Reading 8 (Even): Students will take a test on “Anne Frank.” When finished, we will discuss the PSSA practice lesson that students completed last class.



  • Reading 7: Students will work on laptops to complete lessons on Study Island to earn ribbons.

  • Practical Literature 12: Students will take a test on Beowulf. They will then watch parts of the movie version of the poem.
