Tuesday (10/23): Analyze the text, concept vocab. (vocab. Squares), and word study (p. 50) and worksheet.
·         Study Island – Individual practice on connotation and denotation in literature (due Thursday).

Wednesday (10/24): Analyze craft and structure (p. 51): word choice (connotation, denotation, and tone) and worksheet.
·         Study Island – Individual practice (connotation and denotation in literature).

Thursday (10/25): Conventions (verb moods) p. 52 and worksheet.
·         Study Island – New topic notes and group session (meaning and tone).

Friday (10/26): Work on study guide for letters: You are the electric boogaloo and just be yourself. Review for test. Test is Tuesday (10/30).

Monday (10/15): Work on TDA writing assignment (The Medicine Bag).
·         Study Island Textual evidence topic is due at the end of the day on Wednesday.

Tuesday (10/16): Finish TDA assignment and proofread, edit, revise as needed. Students must turn in their essay by the start of class tomorrow.
·         Study Island – textual evidence is due by the end of the day Wednesday.

Wednesday (10/17): Turn in TDA essay and bug organizer. Study Island – new lesson on introduce and conclude topics in writing. Lesson notes and group session.
·         Study Island – Independent practice: finish textual evidence if needed (due by the end of the day) and work on individual practice with introduce and conclude topics in writing (due by end of the day Friday).

Thursday (10/18): Intro to the next text selections (You are the electric boogaloo and just be yourself), p. 44 (jump start discussion) and concept vocab. Annotation packets as we perform our first read of each of these letters.
·         Study Island – Individual practice on introduce and conclude topics in writing (due Friday).

Friday (10/19): Annotation packets on the letters (you are the electric boogaloo and just be yourself). Complete comprehension check questions on page 49 and discuss. Complete analyze the text questions on page 50 and concept vocab./word study on page 50.

Monday (10/8): No School for students. Act 80 day

Tuesday (10/9): Finish lesson on NoRedInk (transition words/phrases and conclusion paragraphs) and take quiz on this topic. Review what students learned/practiced on No Red Ink with writing components.
·         Study Island – Textual Evidence (lesson notes and group session)

Wednesday (10/10): Blending quotes stations (students will move to each station in groups to learn and practice embedding quotes from texts into their writing.) They will apply this when writing their TDA response.
·         Study Island – Independent practice: Textual evidence. This topic is due by end of the day Monday.

Thursday (10/11): Introduce the bug graphic organizer and its components. Students will also annotate the TDA prompt and begin creating their own bug.
·         Block 2 – continue working on bug and drafting TDA essay.

Friday (10/12): Work on TDA essay.
·         Block 2 – Work on TDA essay. Essay is due Wednesday (10/17).

Monday (10/1): Make up tests for “The Medicine Bag” from last week. Anyone who was absent must make up the test. Students will then work on NoRedInk.com on reviewing writing elements. Students will finish the topics from last week (introductory paragraphs, thesis statements, topic sentences) and continue to the next topic (body paragraphs). Students will work at their own pace to complete the tutorial/lesson, practice session, and quiz for each topic assigned.
·         Study Island – Point of View (notes and group session)

Tuesday (10/2): Finish lesson on NoRedInk (body paragraphs) and take quiz on this topic. Students may begin the next topic when ready. They will examine transition words/phrases and embedding evidence.
·         Study Island – Point of view (independent practice). Point of view is due by the end of the day on Friday.

Wednesday (10/3): NoRedInk – Students will work on the next lesson topics and practice sessions (transition words/phrases and embedding evidence). Students will take the quiz on this topic when ready.
·         Study Island – Independent practice: Point of view (due Friday at end of the day)

Thursday (10/4): NoRedInk – Last lesson set (embedding evidence and conclusion paragraphs).
·         Study Island – Independent practice: Point of view

Friday (10/5): Act 80 ½ day (Early dismissal) NoRedInk – Work on finishing the last set of lessons, practice, and quiz on embedding evidence (quotes) and conclusions.
·         Study Island – Independent practice session: verbs. (WIN time)
