Monday (02/25): Anne Frank – Act 1: Read scene 4 of act 1 today and annotate. Discuss key parts as we read and annotate.
·         Study Island – Individual practice session (finish plot, if needed, and begin new topic: Summarize Literature.) Summarize literature is due on Wednesday.

Tuesday (02/26): Read Act 1, scene 5. Complete comprehension questions on page 151.
·         Study Island – Individual practice on summarize literature (due tomorrow by the end of the day).

Wednesday (02/27): Discuss comprehension questions for Act 1 together. Students will also complete the analyze the text questions on page 152, craft and structure section on page 153, and the practice worksheets that accompany these sections. Students will also take the closure quiz on comprehension today.
·         Study Island – Individual practice session on new topic of developing suspense and humor: due Friday.

Thursday (02/28): Complete pages 154 and 155 in textbook on vocabulary/word study and conventions (as well as the practice worksheets for these sections). Closure quizzes on analyze the text and analyze craft and structure.
·         Study Island - Individual practice session on developing suspense and humor: due Friday.

Friday (03/01): Closure quizzes on concept vocabulary/word study and conventions. Students will also play a review game to prepare for the test on Act 1 of Anne Frank, which will be on Monday.
·         Study Island – New topic: compare and contrast structures in literature – due Tuesday (end of day).

Monday (02/04): Mid-Year Test – complete on paper copy and submit on Pearson Realize.com.
·         Study Island – Individual practice session on central ideas in informational texts is due on Wednesday.

Tuesday (02/05): Continue the mid-year test (if more time is needed today). When finished, students will begin writing their TDA on evaluating arguments. They must create a bug organizer first, and then write their essay response in paragraph format on lined paper. Completed bug and TDA is due Friday. Students will work on the organizer and essay in class.
·         Study Island – Individual practice on central ideas in informational texts is due Thursday.

Wednesday (02/06): Work on TDA organizer and essay.
·         Study Island – Individual practice on central ideas due today.

Thursday (02/07): Work on TDA response in class. Completed bug and essay is due tomorrow.

Friday (02/08): Turn in completed bug and TDA essay. Students will then begin unit 2 in the textbook: The Holocaust. We will complete the unit introduction today (goals, vocabulary, and launch text with summary and quick write prompt).
·         Study Island – New topic: Character – group session on character in Study Island.
