March 26, 2012 - March 30, 2012

Monday
·         Academic English 9 – Check vocabulary definitions; review definitions, worksheet, and sentences for vocab. lesson 14A. Students will also review Act 2, scene 4 by discussing the study guide questions together.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will discuss the intro. to “Hamlet” questions on Shakespeare and The Globe theatre together as a class. Students will also begin reading Act 1 of Hamlet together. Students will work in small groups to complete the study guide questions.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will discuss notes on time management and they will also be introduced to a homework assignment on time. Students will keep a time log of their daily tasks throughout an entire day to keep track of where they waste time and to see what they are spending time doing on a typical day. Students will also begin the next session on goal setting and we will discuss notes together.

Tuesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will read R. and J. Act 2, scenes 5 and 6 together with assigned parts. Students will then work in small groups on the study guide questions for these scenes and discuss responses together as a class. Students will also be given an activity to complete on dramatic foil, tone, and personification within R. and J. for homework. Students must complete these for tomorrow.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading Act 1 of Hamlet together. Students will work in small groups to complete the study guide questions on Act 1 and we will discuss the responses together as a class.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will continue to discuss goals (the different types of goals, etc.) and take notes on goals. Students will also complete an activity on SMART goals and a goal setting action form.

Wednesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will review for the test on Act 2 of R. and J. by discussing the tone, dramatic foil, and personification worksheets together as a class. Students will also watch the remainder of Act 2 in the film version of R. and J.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading together as a class by listening to the audio version of Hamlet. Students will also watch scenes from Act 1 on the film version of the play to compare/contrast the film to the written play. As a class, we will finish discussing questions from Act 1 together also.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will begin the next session on paradigm shifting/challenge of change by completing an activity in groups. Students will then complete a worksheet in groups on change management. Students will then complete the “Nature of Constraints” handout individually and we will discuss the results together as a class. Students will also discuss notes on personal change and the five stages of grief.
Thursday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will take a quiz on Vocabulary lesson 14A and then define the terms for lesson 14B. Students will also be given the worksheet to complete for lesson 14B and write sentences for this lesson on their own. When finished, students will finish watching scenes from Act 2 (if necessary) and, as a class, we will begin reading Act 3 of the play.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will review Act 1 together as a class by playing a review game. Students will have a quiz on Act 1 tomorrow. Students will also begin reading Act 2 together as a class.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will begin the next session on professional impact. Students will complete an ice breaker activity on professionalism and credibility. Students will also complete a credibility assessment handout and we will discuss the results together as a class.
Friday
·          Academic English 9 – Students will take a test on R. and J. Act 2. When finished, students will continue reading Act 3 together as a class. Students will then work in small groups on the study guide.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will take a quiz on Act 1 of Hamlet. When finished, students will continue reading Act 2 of Hamlet together and they will work in small groups on the study guide questions. Students will also watch scenes from Act 2.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will complete the “Like” activity with a partner on likability and credibility. As a class, we will discuss each scenario and the results. Students will also complete the “impression skit” in groups. After the skit, students will complete the perception questions individually. As a class, we will discuss notes on perception vs. reality.

Monday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will take a quiz on Vocabulary lesson 13A and then define the terms for lesson 13B. Students will also be given the worksheet to complete for lesson 13B and write sentences for this lesson on their own. Students will also finish reviewing the study guide questions for R. and J. Act 2, scenes 1 and 2. Students should also finish the Elizabethan Era essay for tomorrow.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will finish the Crucible Character scrapbook project on the ipads and upload it to dropbox to be graded. When finished, students will begin reading “The General History of Virginia” in the literature textbook.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will discuss the senior interviews from last week and interview tips to remember for future reference. Students will also begin the next session (time management) by taking notes and discussing these notes together as a class. Students will also go to the computer lab to finish the job search activity from last week.

Tuesday
·         Academic English 9 – Check vocabulary definitions; review definitions, worksheet, and sentences for vocab. lesson 13B. Students will also read R. and J. Act 2, scene 3 together as a class. Students will receive the study guide for scene 3 to work on.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will upload their character scrapbooks on the ipads if they have not uploaded them yet to dropbox. Students will continue reading “The General History of Virginia” together as a class. Students will then work together in small groups to answer the discussion questions.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will continue with the time management session by discussing the notes together as a class and by completing group activities on time management.

Wednesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will read R. and J., act 2 together as a class. Students will also review questions from yesterday’s study guide. Students will then work together in small groups to complete the study guide for the next scene.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading “The General History of Virginia” together as a class. Students will then work together in small groups to answer the discussion questions. When finished, students will begin reading “Of Plymouth Plantation” and taking notes in order to compare the two narratives.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will discuss procrastination by taking notes and discussing these notes together in a class discussion. Students will then complete the “brick by brick” activity in small groups. Students will also complete the time log activity and complete a planned weekly schedule.
Thursday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will take a quiz on Vocabulary lesson 13B and then define the terms for lesson 14A. Students will also be given the worksheet to complete for lesson 14A and write sentences for this lesson on their own.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading “Of Plymouth Plantation” and taking notes in order to compare the two narratives. When finished, students will compare and contrast the two narratives using a venn diagram.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will discuss managing priorities together as a class by discussing notes. Students will also complete the “urgency versus importance” handout. Students will discuss results together and then complete an item comparison to prioritize items.
Friday
·          Academic English 9 – Students will continue reading Romeo and Juliet together as a class. Students will also work together in small groups on the study guide questions for Act 2.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will finish the venn diagram from yesterday comparing and contrasting the two narratives. When finished, students will write out an essay comparing/contrasting the two narratives based on the diagram they completed.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will begin the next session on goal setting. Students will complete a group activity on goals and, as a class, we will discuss the results of the discussion questions. As a class, we will discuss notes on goals and students will complete the wish list activity.

Monday
·         Academic English 9 – Check vocabulary definitions; review definitions, worksheet, and sentences for vocab. lesson 13A. Students will also review Act 2, scenes 1 and 2 by discussing the study guide questions together.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will work in small groups on the character scrapbook project for “The Crucible” on theipads.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will complete a group activity involving interview skills. Students will work together to develop interview questions and participate in a role playing interview activity. As a class, we will discuss interview tips and analyze the results of the activities performed during class.

Tuesday
·         Academic English 9 – PSSA testing schedule: Students will watch scenes from the movie “Romeo and Juliet.”

·         Practical Literature 11 – PSSA testing schedule: 7th period will not meet today.

·         Y.E.S. - PSSA testing schedule: 3rd and 6th periods will not meet today.

Wednesday
·         Academic English 9 – PSSA testing schedule: Students will watch scenes from the movie “Romeo and Juliet.”

·         Practical Literature 11 – PSSA testing schedule: 7th period will not meet today.

·         Y.E.S. - PSSA testing schedule: Students will begin session eight (job search techniques). As a class, we will discuss job search methods, what works, what doesn’t work, etc.
Thursday
·         Academic English 9 – PSSA testing schedule: Students will watch scenes from the movie “Romeo and Juliet.”

·         Practical Literature 11 – PSSA testing schedule: Students will finish their character scrapbooks on the ipads today and submit them via online dropbox.

·         Y.E.S. - PSSA testing schedule: Students will work on the job search activity on computers.

·         Academic English 9 – Check vocabulary definitions; review definitions, worksheet, and sentences for vocab. lesson 12B. Students will also review Act 2, scenes 1 and 2 by discussing the study guide questions together.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will read “The General History of Virginia” in the literature book together as a class.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will discuss ways to prevent loss of information and communication breakdowns while taking notes. Students will also complete the customer service activity. As a class, we will take notes and discuss customer service together.

Tuesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will go to the library to type the final copy of their Romeo and Juliet “Facebook” project. Students will turn in the rough draft and final copy by the end of class today.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading “The General History of Virginia” together as a class. Students will then work together in small groups to answer the discussion questions.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will continue discussing customer service and taking notes on this section. Students will also complete the “oops theater” activity in groups.

Wednesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will go to the library to research three topics related to the Elizabethan Era. Students will gather information on the topics that they choose in order to write an essay on these topics.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will read “Of Plymouth Plantation” together as a class and students will take notes on the key points of comparison to the first narrative read in class.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will begin session six on job applications, resume writing, and cover letters. Students will take notes and discuss developing their resumes and cover letters. Students will also complete an example application for employment.
Thursday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will take a quiz on Vocabulary lesson 12B and then define the terms for lesson 13A. Students will also be given the worksheet to complete for lesson 13A and write sentences for this lesson on their own. Students will then work on writing the rough draft of the five paragraph essay on the Elizabethan Era topics of their choice.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will continue reading “Of Plymouth Plantation” and taking notes in order to compare the two narratives. When finished, students will compare and contrast the two narratives using a venn diagram.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will continue discussing notes on resumes and cover letters. Students will work on developing their own resume and cover letter on the computer.
Friday
·          Academic English 9 – Students will go to the library to continue researching the three Elizabethan Era topics that they chose to write about in their essay.

·         Practical Literature 11 – Students will finish the venn diagram from yesterday comparing and contrasting the two narratives. When finished, students will write out an essay comparing/contrasting the two narratives based on the diagram they completed.

·         Y.E.S. - Students will take notes on the next section (interviewing skills) and discuss this topic together as a class. Students will also complete an activity on interviewing and preparing for an interview. Students will also go to the computer lab to continue working on their resume and cover letter.
