Monday
  • Academic English 8 – As a class, we will discuss the activities completed thus far in the verb tenses packet. Students will then complete the next two activities in the packet. (Essential Question: What are the various verb tenses and how do we use them correctly in writing and speaking?)

We will discuss these together and review information for a quiz on principal parts of verbs, simple tenses, and perfect tenses. The quiz will be Tuesday.   • Academic English 7 – Students will exchange essays with a partner and identify each adjective and adverb within the essay. They must also draw an arrow to the word or words they are modifying. Each partner must then draw and color a picture of the object that was described within the essay that they read. They should include as much detail as possible in their picture. When finished, essays will be turned in for a grade. (Essential Question: How do adjectives and adverbs function within a sentence and how do we use them effectively to enhance our writing?)

  • Academic English 8 – Finish reading and working on the nonfiction text, “Harriet Tubman.” Students will complete the context clues activity for vocabulary terms from the text. They will also complete multiple choice questions on the text for comprehension check. As a class, we will discuss the text and completed activities together. Students will turn in completed work today for “Harriet Tubman.” (Essential Question: How do we use context clues effectively to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words in a text?)

  • Academic English 7 – Students will continue working on modifiers today. We will review the work they did on Friday on 2 worksheets (Adverbs and Comparing with Adverbs). Students must turn these in today. (Essential Question: How do adjectives and adverbs function within a sentence and how do we use them effectively to enhance our writing?)

  • Honors English 7 – Students will continue working on modifiers today. We will review the work they did on Friday on 2 worksheets (Adjectives and Comparing with Adjectives). Students must turn these in today. Students will then complete 2 more worksheets on adverbs (Adverbs and Comparing with Adverbs). Students will work on these in class and we will discuss responses together as a class. They will turn these in today as well.
