Monday
• English 7 – Review vocabulary unit 20 definitions, worksheet, and sentences; collect vocabulary 20 packet; review for test on verbs tomorrow

• PSSA English 9/10 – Even Day Groups - Practice PSSA packet with passage and questions. Students will complete the packet in a testing situation during class. Students will then discuss the passage and questions including the open-ended prompt and responses.

Tuesday
• English 7 – Students will take a test on all sections of verbs covered so far. After the test, students will respond to a journal prompt in their journals.

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups – Practice PSSA packet with passage and questions. Students will complete the packet in a testing situation during class. Students will then discuss the passage and questions including the open-ended prompt and responses.

Wednesday
• English 7 – Introduction to adjectives (modifiers unit, p. 179 – 189); notes on adjectives and comparing with adjectives; practice exercises on adjectives and worksheets for independent practice; Jeopardy review for vocabulary unit 20

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups – PowerPoint on test-taking strategies for the PSSA test. Students will view and discuss strategies and tips on a PowerPoint presentation.

Thursday
• English 7 – Quiz on vocab. Unit 20 words; work on review sentences for units 16 - 20

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups - PowerPoint on test-taking strategies for the PSSA test. Students will view and discuss strategies and tips on a PowerPoint presentation.

Friday
• English 7 – Notes on adverbs and comparing with adverbs; practice exercises from the textbook (p. 190 – 197); worksheets for independent practice on each section

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups – PowerPoint on test-taking strategies for the PSSA test. Students will finish viewing and discussing strategies and tips on a PowerPoint presentation. Students will then apply these strategies to a practice PSSA passage and questions.

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups – Library: Students will begin typing their essays in the library today and will post them to the wikispace also.

Wednesday
• English 7 – Notes on progressive forms of verbs and practice exercises; worksheet for independent practice on progressive forms of verbs and writing with verbs; Students will then begin working on the checkup for review on verbs (p. 158-159) in textbook (up to section 5 - progressive forms)

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups – Library: Students will begin typing their essays in the library today and will post them to the wikispace also.

Thursday
• English 7 – Vocab. Review – Jeopardy review game; Review verb worksheets and review work from textbook on verbs sections

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups - Library: Students will finish typing their essays in the library and will post them to the wikispace if they have not already done so.

• PSSA English 9/10 – Odd Day Groups - Students will read a second news article from CNN.com using the T2T reading strategy; students will then answer multiple choice questions and one open-ended question using the “winning formula” discussed during the last class.

Tuesday
• English 7 – Writing Prompt introduction and begin watching parts of “Iron Will.”

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups – Students will read a second news article from CNN.com using the T2T reading strategy; students will then answer multiple choice questions and one open-ended question using the “winning formula” discussed during the last class.

Wednesday
• English 7 – Finish watching “Iron Will” and work on rough draft of essay.

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups – Students will begin writing a 5 by 5 persuasive essay. Students will brainstorm and begin writing the rough draft of the essay.

Thursday
• English 7 – Vocabulary quiz for unit 18; unit 19 – definitions, worksheet, sentences; review worksheets from yesterday on verbs

• PSSA English 9/10 - Even Day Groups - Students will begin writing a 5 by 5 persuasive essay. Students will brainstorm and begin writing the rough draft of the essay.

Friday
• English 7 – Notes on progressive forms of verbs from the textbook and practice exercises; practice with writing with verbs

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups – Students will work on proofreading and revising their essays and write or type the final copy of the essay. Final copies of the essay are due next week.

• PSSA English 9/10 – Even Day Groups - Talking 2 Text reading strategy – discuss and practice; New York Times news article – read and practice T2T strategy and write reflection after reading; students will then read a second article practicing the T2T strategy and answer multiple choice questions that follow; we will discuss answers together

• English 7 – Review the worksheet on perfect tenses of verbs; Notes on irregular verbs and practice exercises; worksheet for independent practice of irregular verbs

• PSSA English 9/10 - Odd Day Groups – Talking 2 Text reading strategy – discuss and practice; New York Times news article – read and practice T2T strategy and write reflection after reading; students will then read a second article practicing the T2T strategy and answer multiple choice questions that follow; we will discuss answers together
