Monday (12/17): Pearson Realize – Test on “Three Cheers for the Nanny State.” Test corrections when finished.
·         Study Island – Finish Spelling, Punctuation, Fragments/Run-ons and work on individual practice session for Phrases and Clauses. Phrases and Clauses is due by the end of the day Thursday.

Tuesday (12/18): Make up tests from yesterday on Pearson. Argument activity: watch film and take notes on evidence viewed in each episode. Determine if it is fact or fiction based on evidence. Students must turn in worksheets at the end of class.
·         Study Island – Work on getting phrases and clauses completed. Due Thursday.

Monday (12/10): Textbook – p. 276 – Three Cheers for the Nanny State. Students will perform first read of this essay together and annotate while reading. We will then complete the comprehension check questions after the text and discuss together. Students will then take the comprehension closure quiz. Test on “Three Cheers for the Nanny State” will be on Monday (12/17). Students will get their study guide today as well. Students are not required to complete the study guide, but it is highly encouraged as a way to prepare for the test.
·         Study Island – Finish Inferences and generalizations and theme/central idea on your own (if needed) and work on finishing punctuation, spelling, fragments/run-ons. Some students may need to finish the benchmark test on Study Island – they will go to the library to do this.

Tuesday (12/11): Textbook – p. 282 – 283 and practice worksheet on author’s argument. Students will complete the practice sections in the book and on the w.s. and we will discuss as a class when finished. Students will then take the closure quizzes on analyze the text questions and craft and structure.
·         Study Island – New topic: phrases and clauses – lesson and group session.

Wednesday (12/12): Textbook p. 284-285 – complete practice sections in the book and on the practice worksheets for vocab./word study and conventions. We will review/discuss as a class together and students will then take the closure quizzes on vocab./word study and conventions (phrases/clauses).
·         Study Island – Individual practice on new topic (phrases and clauses). This topic is due Friday by the end of the day.

Thursday (12/13): Review for test on Monday on Three Cheers for the Nanny State. Work on study guide and play review game.
·         Study Island – Individual practice (phrases and clauses)

Friday (12/14): Work on study guide for test on Monday on Three Cheers for the Nanny State. Review/study for test.
