8th Grade
English (Periods 1, 2, 3, 5B, 6, 7, 8):
Monday (11/21): Introduce
students to classroom rules and expectations. Students will also be given a
letter to take home to parents/guardians outlining unit 1 in the textbook.
Students will then complete the “Daily Paragraph Editing” sheet for Monday. We
will discuss responses together.
Tuesday (11/22): Students
will complete Tuesday’s paragraph editing and check answers. They will then
turn in the sheet for Monday and Tuesday. Students will then review the unit
essential question, and how it connects to what they read previously in “The
Medicine Bag.” Students will then watch the video for the next piece – “Apache
Girl’s Rite of Passage” – and take notes on what they see/hear. We will review
the media vocabulary before watching the video as well. Students will then work
on the comprehension check questions on page 30.
Wednesday (11/23): Early
dismissal at 11:00 a.m. – Students will participate in a round robin story
activity during class. Students will turn in their story at the end of class.
Thursday (11/24):
No School - Thanksgiving
Friday (11/25): No
School
Essential Questions: Unit One in Textbook – What are some of the milestones on the path
to growing up?
