Monday – School Closed (President’s Day)

Tuesday
  • Reading 8 (Odd): Students will work on the study guide for the play, “Anne Frank.Students must complete questions for Act 1: scenes 1 and 2. Individual prompts for scenes 1 and 2 are due on Thursday. Students must turn these responses in on a separate sheet of paper.
  • Reading 7: Students will complete the sonnets packet together and turn these in today. They will also read a poem and analyze it using the provided worksheet.
  • Practical Literature 12: Students will finish reading “The Wanderer” today in class. As a class, we will analyze and discuss the poem together. Students will identify key parts of the poem, such as speaker, tone, theme, etc.

Wednesday
  • Reading 8 (Even): Students will work on the study guide for the play, “Anne Frank.Students must complete questions for Act 1: scenes 1 and 2. Individual prompts for scenes 1 and 2 are due on Thursday. Students must turn these responses in on a separate sheet of paper.
  • Reading 7: Students will discuss the poem they read and analyzed with a partner yesterday. As a class, we will read a second poem that is a response to the first poem and discuss this response together as a class. Students will then begin a poetry writing assignment. The poem is due on Tuesday of next week.
  • Practical Literature 12: Students will finish identifying key parts of the poem, “The Wanderer.” As a class, we will discuss their responses together. Students will then read the final poem in this collection, “The Wife’s Lament.” Students will read and analyze the poem, highlighting key words/phrases.

Thursday

  •  Reading 8 (Odd): Students will finish reading scene 3 and begin scene 4 for Act 1.



  •  Reading 7: Students will work on writing their poem today during class time. The poem is due Tuesday. They will also read AR books silently.



  • Practical Literature 12: Students will discuss “The Wife’s Lament” together and identify key elements such as the speaker, setting, theme, etc.



Friday

  • Reading 8 (Even): Students will finish reading scene 3 and begin scene 4 for Act 1.

  • Reading 7: Students will work on the next poetry collection during class today. They must analyze each poem in the packet and respond to the guided questions as they read and the post-reading questions when finished reading each poem.
  • Practical Literature 12: Students will use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the three Anglo-Saxon poems that we read. They will work in groups to complete this assignment.
