8th Grade
English (Periods 1, 2, 3, 5B, 6, 7, 8):
Monday (12/19): Students
will discuss/review the items on pages 35 – 37 related to nonfiction narrative.
Students will work on drafting the introduction paragraph of their nonfiction
narrative.
Tuesday (12/20): Finish
drafting the introduction paragraph of the narrative. Students will turn in a
copy of the introduction to be checked for a grade. Students will then begin
drafting the body paragraphs. They will use the list of narrative elements to
make sure they are including at least one example of each element.
Wednesday (12/21): Students
will continue drafting the body paragraphs of the narrative. They must utilize appropriate
transition words and phrases as they write their body paragraphs.
Thursday (12/22):
Students will work on drafting the conclusion paragraph of the narrative. They
must make sure it is reflecting on the experiences/events described in the
narrative. Students must have the conclusion and all other parts of the essay
completed for the day we return from break. The draft of the narrative is due
on January 3rd.
Friday (12/23): Students
will participate in a round robin writing activity. The writing that students
include will focus on the narrative elements we have been examining throughout
this unit.
Essential Questions: Unit One in Textbook – What are some of the milestones on the path
to growing up?
