Monday: Video – Shakespeare (information and visuals presented on Shakespeare’s life and times as well as his writings); Quiz on literary terms on Thursday

Tuesday: Return and discuss vocabulary quiz 1B; assign reading parts for play and begin reading Romeo and Juliet; distribute study guide for Act 1 and complete questions while reading

Wednesday: Review literary terms from notes (quiz tomorrow); continue reading Act 1 of R and J; discuss study guide together

Thursday: Quiz on literary terms from notes; continue reading R and J and complete study guide questions

Friday: Read R and J together with assigned parts and complete study guide questions in groups

Essential Questions: How does learning new vocabulary words help us become better readers, writers, speakers, and listeners?

What themes from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” are still relevant in today’s society and how do we relate to them?

Tuesday: RACERS prompt with Congo article focusing on main idea

Wednesday: Quiz – talking to text strategy (read informational article and use talking to text strategy); RACERS prompt focusing on author’s purpose and point of view

Thursday: Read nonfiction text and use talking to text to analyze text structure and word choice; respond to RACERS prompt involving text structure and word choice

Friday: Discuss nonfiction text from yesterday and RACERS prompt; Review main idea, author’s purpose, point of view, text structure, word choice

Essential Questions: How can we effectively comprehend and analyze informational text and use the text details to support claims?

What essential elements make up informational texts and how do we differentiate between these elements in our analyses?

Tuesday (Odd): Discuss summaries (T2T notes) on PA standards article; writing lesson on introductions (Study Island)

Wednesday (Even): Writing lesson (introductions) – Students write their own introductions after viewing and discussing different styles/strategies and the effective elements of each

Thursday (Odd): Writing lesson (introductions) – Students write their own introductions after viewing and discussing different styles/strategies and the effective elements of each

Friday (Even): Gallery walk (introductions) – view and discuss samples as well as give constructive feedback, ask questions, etc.
