Monday
·         Academic English 9 – Check vocabulary definitions; review definitions, worksheet, and sentences for vocab. lesson 3A. Finish reviewing chapter four of Night and students will turn in chapter four study guides today. Final copy of Night essay is due tomorrow.

·         Practical English/Literature 11 – Prac Eng: Students will define new vocabulary terms for list #2 by completing vocab. squares for each word. Students will also begin chapter 3 of grammar (Phrases). Students will define and identify prepositional phrases and complete practice exercises for this section.

Prac Lit: Continue reading Act 3 of The Crucible and analyze Act 3 by completing study guide questions.

·         PSSA Reading 11/12 - Finish lesson two and discuss the lesson together. Students will also begin working on lesson three in the book (essential and non-essential information).
Tuesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will turn in their essays for Night (rough draft and final copy) today. As a class, we will also read chapter five of Night together and students will demonstrate comprehension and analysis skills by completing the study guide questions as we read the chapter.

·         Practical English/Literature 11 – Prac. Eng: Students will define and identify verbals and verbal phrases within sentences by discussing examples and completing practice exercises. Review vocabulary list 2 terms for quiz.

Prac. Lit: Students will continue reading Act 3 of The Crucible and complete study guide questions together. Students will also analyze scenes in the film version of the play.

·         PSSA Reading 11/12 - No Class
Wednesday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will review chapter five study guide for Night by discussing in small groups and as a class. Students will also begin to read silently chapter six of Night. As they read silently, students will analyze the chapter by completing the study guide questions. Chapter six study guide is due on Friday.

·         Practical English/Literature 11 – Prac. Eng: Students will practice identifying verbals and verbal phrases by completing worksheets and discussing these together as a class. Students will also define and identify gerunds. Review vocabulary list 2 together.

Prac. Lit: Students will continue reading The Crucible together as a class (Act 3). Students will also complete study guide questions and discuss types of literary devices in Act 3.

·         PSSA Reading 11/12 - Analyze bias and propaganda by completing lesson 4 in the PSSA book independently.
Thursday
·         Academic English 9 – Students will take a quiz on Vocabulary lesson 3A and then define the terms for lesson 3B. Students will also be given the worksheet to complete for lesson 3B and write sentences for this lesson on their own. Students will then view a scene from the film, The Pianist, as a comparison to the book Night. Students will discuss the scene after viewing it and the details captured in Elie Wiesel’s book.

·         Practical English/Literature 11 – Prac. Eng: Identify and define gerunds and gerund phrases by discussing examples and completing practice exercises. Vocabulary quiz on list 2 words.

Prac. Lit: Finish Act 3 of The Crucible and work on study guide questions together. Review for quiz on Act 3.

·         PSSA Reading 11/12 - No Class
Friday
·          Academic English 9 – Discuss chapter six study guide questions as a class and read chapter seven together as a class. Students will work on study guide questions for chapter seven in small groups. Students will read chapter eight for Monday.

·         Practical English/Literature 11 – Prac. Eng: Identify and define infinitives and infinitive phrases in sentences and complete practice worksheets.

Prac. Lit: Students will take a quiz on Act 3 of the play and then predict what will occur in Act 4. Students will begin reading Act 4.

·         PSSA Reading 11/12 - Analyze bias and propaganda by completing lesson 4 in the PSSA book independently. Discuss lesson 4 together. Students will then begin lesson five of chapter one.
