Monday (8/27): Classroom rules and expectations, parent letters, course overview, about me bubble name activity.

Tuesday (8/28): Class meeting: 7th period. About me bubble name activity – finish and begin introductions. Each day, a few students will share their poster with the class as a way to introduce themselves. If time permits, go over iPad procedures (assign iPad numbers) and log onto Pearson Realize to start the beginning of year test. Each student will receive a paper copy of the test also.

Wednesday (8/29): Pearson Realize beginning of year test. Students will fill in the paper copy as well as the online test. The beginning of year test will help gather baseline data about students’ current ELA knowledge and skills in order to help drive instruction.

Thursday (8/30): Pearson Realize beginning of year test. Students will continue taking the test until they finish all questions. Once they finish the test on Pearson, students will write down their areas of need and strength as well as their test score on their data sheet. Students will keep data sheets in their folders/binders. Students will then log onto Study Island and begin the ELA grade 8 benchmark 1 test. Each student will receive a paper copy of the benchmark test to fill out along with entering their answers online.

Friday (8/31): Pep rally at 1:30 p.m. Students will work on the Study Island benchmark test.
