Tuesday

  • Academic English 8 – Discuss Gerunds and review practice exercises in packet. Appositives – activities 6, 7, 8 in packet (Essential Question: How do gerunds and appositives function in language in order to help us communicate?)

 

·         Academic English 7 – Review ticket out from Friday. Introduce unit one lesson project: Sentences. Students will be placed into groups to begin work on the project. Projects due on Monday (9/8). (Essential Question: What parts make up effective sentences and how do they work together?)

  • Practical English 10 – Vocabulary: list one – complete vocab. squares for words 7 and 8 in list. Nouns worksheet: discuss together on board and turn in work. Textbook: exercises 1 and 2 (nouns). Test on nouns will be on Friday. Vocabulary test will be on Thursday. (Essential Question: How do nouns function within a sentence to help us effectively communicate?)

 

  • Honors Reading 7 – Reader’s-Writer’s Log: introduction and begin written responses. Reading survey; Groups will brainstorm and recall reading strategies that they already know. Discussion of reading strategies that will be used throughout the year. (Essential Question: What reading strategies do “good readers” utilize and how do we use those strategies to navigate through nonfiction texts?)

 
Wednesday

They will also read an article in class and apply the RACERS strategy to respond to a writing prompt.
