English Literature –
Grade 8 (Periods 1, 6, 7)
Monday (2/12): Work independently on
TDA essay and/or study guide for “Words Do Not Pay.” Both of these items are
due on Wednesday. The test for “Words Do Not Pay” is this Friday. Revisions for
the last TDA on Ban the Ban and Soda’s a Problem is due today. Students may
re-submit this essay by the end of the day today.
Tuesday (2/13): Work independently on
TDA essay and/or study guide for “Words Do Not Pay.” Both of these items are
due on Wednesday. The test for “Words Do Not Pay” is this Friday.
Wednesday (2/14): Turn in TDA essay.
Review for test – discuss study guide responses. Test is Friday.
Thursday (2/15): Finish going over study guide as a class
(if needed). Review game for test on “Words Do Not Pay” (Kahoot).
Friday (2/16): Test on “Words Do Not Pay” on Pearson
Realize.com. After the test, students should begin working on vocabulary
squares for the next set of concept vocabulary words on page 314 (4 words).

English Composition –
Grade 8 (Periods 3, 5, 8)
Monday (2/12): Independent practice
on meaning and tone. Meaning and tone is due Tuesday by the end of the day.
Tuesday (2/13): Practice questions in WIN time on meaning and
tone. Meaning and tone topic is due at the end of the day today. If students
are ready, they may take the review session 4 on all topics up to this point. Review
session 4 is due by the end of Wednesday.
Wednesday (2/14): Review session 4 in Study Island. Notes on
the next topic: connotation and denotation. Connotation and denotation topic is
due on Monday.
Thursday (2/15): Study Island (WIN time) – group session on
connotation and denotation and independent practice.
Friday (2/16): Study Island (WIN
time) – Connotation and denotation (due Monday).
